Joan hits a topic that you don't discuss over the fence, at holidays, or even with your best friend. In our society today of constantly plugged and rarely disconnected there's much more anxiety and you're not alone. Simple ways to relieve anxiety written in an easy to digest format provide instant hope that someone "gets you" in this book. This can be the start of you thriving more and having the energy to do the things you want to do.
Dr. Rosenberg takes the stress out of understanding anxiety- what a concept! I found value in her distinction between fear and anxiety, and also in recognizing that what most of us are actually gripped by is how emotions feel in our bodies, not the emotional thoughts themselves. Knowing this allows us to ride them out until they pass. Both insights help us to regain self control, which eases anxiety (as the book is titled). I've tested this myself and with clients with excellent results (and quite some relief)!
